Bus Stop, by William Inge
Directed by Fred T. Blish

Stranded overnight in a roadside diner in Kansas during a howling snowstorm, four passengers – a cowboy and his sidekick, a nightclub singer and an alcoholic derelict spend the night. Together with the local sheriff, a bus driver and the owner of the diner and her pretty young helper, they each have a story to tell. Set in the 1950's, this wonderful comedy, that was both a Broadway hit and a top selling film, is filled with love and laughs. This was LTM’s very first production in 1961 – join us for the start of our 50th anniversary season!

The First 25 Years – a Musical Revue
Directed by Debi Freund
August 6-8, 12-15
There’s nothing like a musical to get your mind happily singing along to tunes by many delightful composers including Rodgers and Hart, Lerner and Loewe, Ebb and Kander, and Frank Loesser. As we reminisce over the first 25 years of LTM (1961 – 1986) you can turn back your own pages of time and think, “where was I when . . . .”!
The Producers by Mel Brooks
Directed by Jane Cerosky
November 5-7, 11-14, 19-21
Outrageous, hilarious, a teeny bit offensive, off the wall, and the winner of a record 12 Tony Awards are just a few things you’ll remember about The Producers! One thing for sure is it’s never boring and you will find yourself laughing out loud as Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom sing and dance their way through the greatest show biz scam that ever was! LTM will be the first community theater to produce this in greater Hartford!
About the 50th Year...
In September of 1960, under the auspices of the Manchester Rec Department, a small group of theater-lovers gathered to start an organization which has provided over 2,000 performances of over 300 productions and more than 3,500 people have performed on stage or been on the technical and business staff.
The all-volunteer theater troupe will produce its first play, “Bus Stop” by William Inge, beginning February 26 for three weekends, as the first show of the 2010 season. “An interesting aside,” notes LTM Executive Director Joyce Hodgson, “is that the director of this show will be Fred Blish, one of the founding members and the actor who portrayed one of the central figures in the show, Bo Decker in that very first show. That’s the beauty of LTM, many of the current members have been with us from the start and we continue to attract many new and wonderfully talented thespians from throughout the state”.
Other shows scheduled in 2010 will be “The Man Who Came To Dinner” , “The First 25 – a Musical Revue” and “The Producers” all previously produced at LTM.
The 50th anniversary celebration will last for two years and will include a number of special events throughout the year and into 2011 when “Rumors”, “Doubt” and “Fiddler on the Roof” will be produced.
A gala celebration weekend is planned for September 24, 25, 26, 2010. Little Theatre of Manchester is the managing organization for Cheney Hall, the oldest operating theater in the State of Connecticut.
