Evenings@7 Presents THE ELABORATE ENTRANCE OF CHAD DEITY

THE ELABORATE ENTRANCE OF CHAD DEITY, by Kristoffer Diaz

October 8th, 2019

Director: Tina Huey

THE ELABORATE ENTRANCE OF CHAD DEITY follows the life of wrestler Macedonio Guerra. As a lifelong fan, he has followed wrestling only to become a “jobber,” one who is paid to lose to bigger-name stars in the ring. Macedonio meets Vigneshwar Paduar, a young Indian man from Brooklyn, who he wants to team up with. The wrestling execs go for it but pitch them as “terrorists” in the ring. Macedonio and Vigneshwar find a way to push the personas to the limits and say what needs to be said. Unspoken racism, politics, and courage are all woven into this play that leaves it all on the mat.

Evenings@7 Presents INALIENABLE WRIGHTS

INALIENABLE WRIGHTS by Bill Emerson

September 10th, 2019

Director: Bill Emerson

INALIENABLE WRIGHTS is a dramatic comedy about a political family that is more about family than it is about politics.  The play chronicles a period in the life of the Wright family as they deal with the stresses of tradition, money and scandal.  It is a story about elitism, power and infidelity with a dose of narcissism thrown in for good measure.

Director: Angela Dias

It’s Christmas Eve 2004, when Brooke Wyeth returns home to Palm Springs after a six-year absence to celebrate Christmas with her parents, her brother, and her aunt. Brooke, a novelist, declares to her well-bred and respected republican family that her next book, set to publish in a few short months, is actually a tell-all memoir recounting up a pivotal and tragic event in the family’s history—a wound they don’t want reopened. In effect, she draws a line in the sand and dares them all to cross it.

THE PAPERMAKER by Monica Wood

April 16th, 2019

Director:  Mark O’Donnell

Based on a true story. In 1987, 1250 union workers of the International Paper Company plant in Jay, Maine, walked out on strike. Dragging on for a year and a half, the conflict between the small-town papermakers and the multibillion-dollar corporation brought the community closer together; in other ways, it ripped the town apart. Monica Wood’s PAPERMAKER, tells the moving and thoughtful story of two families in the midst of this bitter dispute.

Evenings@7 Presents ROSENCRANTZ & GUILDENSTERN ARE DEAD

ROSENCRANTZ & GUILDENSTERN ARE DEAD by Tom Stoppard

November 12th, 2019

Director: Ron Cohen

In Tom Stoppard’s best-known absurdist work, this Shakespearean Laurel and Hardy finally get a chance to take the lead role. Rosencrantz & Guildenstern ramble obliviously through life as the events of William Shakespeare’s HAMLET unfold around them. While visiting their old friend Hamlet, the pair engage in an ongoing philosophical debate about free will versus predestination, each trying to prove absurd positions through misbegotten experiments. Meanwhile, the clueless friends attempt to make sense of the peculiar goings-on in the castle, where fate leads our two heroes to a tragic but inevitable end.
