Join our live “studio audience” as local playwrights present 4 original radio plays! This immersive theatrical event showcases a renowned foley artist, whose captivating sound effects will bring these stories to life right before your eyes. Experience an evening of hair-raising scares and (mostly) belly-aching laughs – an event so good, it's scary!

Featuring plays by Bill Arnold, Bill Emerson (Manchester Playwright Festival), Jacques Lamarre (I Loved, I Lost, I Made Spaghetti), and Betsy Maguire (Manchester Playwright Festival).

10/7: PRE-SHOW HALLOWEEN COSTUME PARTY

On Saturday, October 7 raise your “spirit” with LTM’s special Halloween Costume Party — featuring PRIZES for the best costumes! This fang-tastic evening brings light bites, reduced-price drink specials, and lively music. Costume party tickets are $15 per person. Sign up when you purchase your tickets to see A Howl of a Night or walk up. Meet us in the Silk Room at 6 PM — be there or beware!

10/8: PRE-SHOW “FOLEY” SHOWCASE

On Sunday, October 8 join us for a special demonstration and introduction to the art of foley! This event is FREE and open to all.

  • Using an arsenal of props, foley artists re-create and record the everyday sounds heard in films, television shows, and video games—noises like footsteps, a sword being drawn from a sheath, or the swishing of clothing as two people walk past each other.

During “Howl Of A Night”, these sound effects will be created live using an assortment of props and household items.

  • Founded by Virginia Wolf in 2011, what started as a theater company dedicated to

bringing unsung heroines of history to life has become a production company for many different and exciting projects

Some celebrate women, such as. “12 Angry Women”, or “Love, Loss and What I Wore”; some honor important events in history, such as "The Guys" an 9/11 play by Anne Nelson; some are just fun, such as “It’s a Wonderful Life, a

Live Radio Play” which we will bring to Ana's Kitchen in Simsbury on December, and this weekend's "A Howl of a Night"; and some stretch us in ways we never imagined, such as the staged reading of the full length musical “The Resurrectionists” by the late Chris Weed.

Covid has thrown some boulders in our way, but we persevere! We never know what’s around the corner, but we eagerly await it all!

  • Playland Productions is a newly formed theatre company in Connecticut, focusing on original scripts and unconventional theatre spaces. Its founder, Betsy Maguire, has written over thirty plays, and is a member of the Dramatist Guild, the International Museum Theatre Alliance, and the Connecticut Chapter of the League of Professional Theatre Women. She is the recipient of the 2019 Jon Lipsky Award for Excellence in Playwriting, Best Comedy and Best Drama festival awards, and is a past winner of the Connecticut Stories on Stage contest.

“Anything can be a stage,” says Betsy, who writes stories that have come alive in Mark Twain's Hartford home, a Colonial Meetinghouse, the Simsbury Cemetery, the Old New-Gate Prison & Copper Mine, The New England Air Museum, and Lost Acres Vineyard. “Audiences love to see theatre in a non-traditional setting, and these unique spaces will be the ‘sweet spot’ for Playland Productions,” says Betsy. “I hope to see you there!"
