  • What is "Howl of a Night: The Second Coming"?

It is a theatrical event that harkens back to the 1940s live radio era. It features a performance of several original, old-time radio plays for a live studio audience. The show is "clever, chilling, frighteningly funny," blending thriller and comedy elements.

What is the format of the show?

The performance features four different original radio plays. Six actors perform at vintage microphones, using different character voices and accents. The show also includes a live Foley artist creating sound effects in real-time.

    What is a Foley artist?

A Foley artist is someone who creates live sound effects to accompany the action. In "Howl of a Night," the Foley artist uses a variety of props—from thunder sheets to whistles—at a microphone so that the sounds come across the airwaves just like they did in old-time radio.

    Who wrote the radio plays?

Connecticut Playwright Bill Arnold wrote all of the original scripts for the show this year. The scripts are designed specifically for radio, focusing on what the audience hears rather than what they see.

What kind of stories are included?

The four stories are all original and wildly different, but they are generally thriller-comedies that involve entertaining problems that need to be solved. One of the scripts introduces a noir-type female detective character named Sally Fitz, Private Dick.

Is the show suitable for all ages?

The show is rated PG-13. The actress noted that while there are "no bad words," there is a lot of innuendo and double entendre, so it is not suitable for small children.

  • Founded by Virginia Wolf in 2011, what started as a theater company dedicated to

bringing unsung heroines of history to life has become a production company for many different and exciting projects

Some celebrate women, such as. “12 Angry Women”, or “Love, Loss and What I Wore”; some honor important events in history, such as "The Guys" an 9/11 play by Anne Nelson; some are just fun, such as “It’s a Wonderful Life, a

Live Radio Play” which we will bring to Ana's Kitchen in Simsbury on December, and this weekend's "A Howl of a Night"; and some stretch us in ways we never imagined, such as the staged reading of the full length musical “The Resurrectionists” by the late Chris Weed.

Covid has thrown some boulders in our way, but we persevere! We never know what’s around the corner, but we eagerly await it all!
