2021 Update

Hello, Little Theatre of Manchester Friends!

We miss you, and our hearts go out to all those whose health and livelihoods have been affected by this crisis. I hope that you and yours continue to stay safe and healthy.

Well, our 60th Anniversary Season started out with a bang. MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS quickly became a crowd favorite, but little did we know it would be our only 2020 production. We haven’t seen most of you since then or earlier, and it doesn’t look like that will change anytime soon.

Our curtain will rise again, but not until we know it is safe to do so. We are continually in consultation with state health and government officials and endless professionals around the country, including scientists and doctors from the Yale School of Public Health. I suspect many of you will not feel comfortable coming out until there is a highly effective, safe, and wide-spread vaccine, and personally, I feel the same way.

To prepare for that day, our Governing and Artistic Boards are working behind the scenes, but our 2021 season will certainly look different. As is the “new normal,” this is tentative, but at the moment we are considering a three-show season beginning in June of 2021:

  • WALTER CRONKITE IS DEAD. Take two opinionated women of politically opposite stripes, confine them to a corner of an airport during an endless weather delay, and you get “a ninety-minute treasure chest that keeps revealing new gems of wisdom and humor, right to the end.” — North County Times San Diego.

  • THE COMPLETE WORKS OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE (ABRIDGED) All 37 plays in 97 minutes! Three madcap men in tights weave their wicked way through all of Shakespeare's comedies, histories, and tragedies in one wild ride that will leave you helpless with laughter.

  • A RODGERS AND HAMMERSTEIN CABARET In 1943, composer Richard Rodgers and lyricist Oscar Hammerstein II joined forces to begin creating some of the greatest musicals ever written, including South Pacific, Oklahoma!, The King and I, The Sound of Music and many more! LTM artists will perform songs from the legendary composers' musicals.

We are not asking for you to make any reservation or financial commitment to these productions. When the time is right, we will let you know.

On behalf of myself; Karen Snyder, Board President; Debi Freund, Artistic Director; and our Governing and Artistic Boards, THANK YOU for all your support and we can’t wait until we can see you again at Cheney Hall.
